Abstrakt

Terrorism is a threat to the security, democratic values, rights and freedoms of Europeans. Combating it is a major priority for the European Union, its Member States’ and international partners. In this perspective, the EU’s policy towards terrorism began to develop dynamically after the terrorist attacks of September 11 2001. The article discusses the problem of presentation of the European Union policy in the fght against terrorism implemented after the terrorist attacks of September 11 2001 to the Treaty of Lisbon of 13 December 2007. The article is a theoretical and illustrative character. The realization of the adopted goal required the use of methods typical for social sciences - analysis of literature and documents. The literature and documentation studies carried out allowed for the presentation of the European Union’s policy on terrorism after 2001. The article analyzes the objectives, tasks, legal attitudes, institutions and cooperation of the European Union in the fght against terrorism.
